Jean-Francois Toussaint

Jean-François is Sanofi's Global Head of Vaccines R&D, leading a global team driving innovation across Sanofi's vaccine pipeline from early research through lifecycle management. Under his leadership, Sanofi has rejuvenated its pipeline with more than a dozen innovative vaccine candidates progressing to clinical trials, including 6 advancing to Phase 3. He has been instrumental in building Sanofi's proprietary mRNA platform, establishing the Translational Science Hub in Australia, and expanding Sanofi's adjuvant toolbox.

Jean-François holds a PhD in animal sciences and began his career in a diagnostic lab at the Belgian reference center for animal diseases. He then spent 15 years at GSK, where he led the development of multiple vaccine candidates and oversaw viral and bacterial vaccine discovery programs, translational science activities, and GSK's adjuvant center of excellence.

A champion of open innovation, Jean-François has forged strategic partnerships with leading academic institutions, public research centers, and industry partners worldwide. He holds an EMBA from HEC Paris.
